Courses are the main unit of learning in Model Diplomat. Each course is a structured path of 5–15 lessons, progressing from foundational concepts to advanced application.

How courses are structured

Every course has:
  • A description explaining what you’ll learn and who it’s for
  • A difficulty level (Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced)
  • A lesson sequence — lessons unlock in order as you complete them
  • An estimated time to complete (usually 2–8 hours across all lessons)
  • XP rewards for each lesson and a bonus for completing the full course
  • FAQs answering common questions about the course
  • Related courses so you know what to take next

Finding courses

Go to Learn → Courses in the sidebar. You can:
  • Browse by category (MUN, Debate, Elections, Law, etc.)
  • See your in-progress courses at the top of the page
  • Filter by difficulty level

Completing a course

Work through lessons in order. Each lesson:
  1. Presents reading content (key concepts and explanations)
  2. Walks you through interactive exercises
  3. Awards XP when you finish
A progress bar shows how far through the course you are. When you complete all lessons, you receive a course certificate and a large XP bonus.

Locked courses

Some courses have prerequisites. If a course shows a lock icon, you need to complete the prerequisite course first. The prerequisite is shown on the course detail page.

Coming Soon courses

Courses marked “Coming Soon” are in development. You can see what’s coming and the general topic area. They’ll unlock automatically when published.

Course progression tips

Lessons build on each other. Later lessons reference concepts introduced in earlier ones. Even if a lesson seems basic, the exercises often test your ability to apply foundational knowledge in new ways.
Each lesson ends with a suggested Atlas search prompt. Use it. Searching a real-world example of the concept you just learned is one of the best ways to make it stick. For example, after a lesson on sanctions, search “What sanctions does the EU have on Belarus and why?”
Learning research suggests spacing your practice over multiple sessions is more effective than doing everything at once. Do 2–3 lessons per sitting, then come back the next day.
