About

Shaping the Future of Global Security: Drones, Democracy, and Electoral Integrity

About TrondMUN

The United Nations Student Association Trondheim (UNSAT), one of five vibrant branches of the United Nations Student Association Norway (UNSAN), is proud to announce the 2nd edition of TrondMUN, our flagship Model United Nations conference. Guided by our mission to foster peace, justice, and equality on a healthy planet, we are excited to once again bring global challenges to the forefront.

Building on the success of our inaugural event in 2024, which welcomed 15 enthusiastic delegates from across Norway and Europe, TrondMUN 2025 is set to be bigger and better than ever. This year, we aim to host 30 delegates who will engage in high-level debates and collaborative discussions on pressing global challenges.

Though TrondMUN is a relatively new addition to the MUN landscape, we are dedicated to upholding the prestige, excellence, and passion that define the MUN experience. Whether you’re an experienced delegate or a newcomer eager to make your mark, TrondMUN promises an unforgettable opportunity to debate, negotiate, and drive solutions for a brighter future.

About TrondMUN 2025

The theme for TrondMUN 2025: Shaping the Future of Global Security: Drones, Democracy, and Electoral Integrity, reflects urgent challenges in our rapidly evolving world. From the ethical dilemmas of drone warfare to the fragility of electoral systems under threat from interference, these issues highlight the intersections of technology, sovereignty, and human rights. With drones rewriting the rules of war and autonomous weapons challenging International Humanitarian Law, it is crucial to reexamine the Geneva Conventions and redefine accountability in modern warfare. Similarly, rising instances of foreign and domestic electoral interference endanger democratic institutions globally, necessitating a reevaluation of safeguards to uphold integrity and trust. These topics were chosen to inspire innovative, collaborative solutions to some of the most pressing concerns in global security today, empowering delegates to debate the policies shaping tomorrow’s world.

During a three-day conference, 30 delegates from various parts of Norway, Europe and possible beyond will convene to debate critical issues in global security. TrondMUN 2025 will feature the First Committee of the General Assembly: Disarmament and International Security (DISEC), focusing on pressing topics.
