About

The Tashkent International MUN Conference (TIMUN) is an annual project organized by the TIMUN Society, a part of Westminster International University in Tashkent (WIUT). Since its establishment in 2012, TIMUN Society has been driven by the dedication and passion of young individuals, aiming to promote diplomacy and address global issues.

With a commitment to inclusivity and diversity, TIMUN actively engages young people from different regions of Uzbekistan and the whole world. Supported by the UN Regional Coordinator’s Office in Uzbekistan, UNFPA, UN Women, UNODC, the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change of the Republic of Uzbekistan as well as Artel Group, the TIMUN 2023 Conference serves as a gathering point for students from various educational institutions, representing a multitude of nationalities and backgrounds. Its primary objectives include fostering diplomacy, raising global awareness, enhancing public speaking skills, nurturing leadership development, promoting cultural understanding, facilitating networking, encouraging problem-solving, and cultivating critical thinking.

The conference provides a platform for young delegates to engage in stimulating debates, negotiations, and resolutions on international and development issues that reflect the work of the United Nations in Uzbekistan and in the world.

This year, TIMUN 2023 puts forward the concept of “One UN” under the slogan “Together for a Better World, Together for SDGs #LeaveNoOneBehind” to emphasize the power of collective efforts to effect positive change. A dynamic and transformative three-day event has been designed to engage, educate, and empower young delegates from around the world towards achieving sustainable development. With a diverse range of nationalities and backgrounds, the conference will bring together 550 passionate delegates divided into 11 advanced Committees, international professional specialists, dedicated organizers, and enthusiastic volunteers to foster an environment of learning, collaboration, and global citizenship. Additionally, participation in the conference is FREE of charge for ALL international and local Delegates and Chairs. All the resolutions that will be worked out at the committees of TIMUN 2023 will go to the UN Agencies for the consideration and gradual implementation of the solutions proposed by young leaders of the globe.

TIMUN's significance extends beyond its annual conferences. It plays a crucial role in our long-term aim of transforming WIUT into a hub for advancing the SDGs. TIMUN will be a cornerstone in achieving this ambitious goal, as it serves as a vital platform for nurturing the skills, knowledge, and global perspective required to drive meaningful change on a local and international scale.
