SONMUN 2024

Welcome to the first edition of SONMUN!

Founded by a passionate team of MUNers who realised the lack of English conferences available in our home city, School of the Nations Model United Nations brings the Model UN culture so prominent in other parts of the world to this community. It seeks to facilitate inter-school dialogue on global issues while fostering diplomacy and empowering the voices of local youth. With support from our teachers and our school, we present to you our first conference.

The conference is held at our school, the School of the Nations, Macau, on November 30th to December 1st, 2024. Details like the Position Paper Topic & Guide, Background Guide, Conference Schedule, Country Assignments, and Delegate Rules of Procedure will be sent out on November 10th to the email you have indicated in the registration form. Emphasising accessibility, our entry fee for the conference is $40 MOP per delegate.

The topic this year is “The Child Humanitarian Crisis in East Africa” and it will be conducted under SOCHUM – the Social, Cultural & Humanitarian Committee.

Get ready for a weekend of intense debate, international perspectives, and fun! Don't fret, beginners – prepare yourself with a Delegate Training Session from the University of California, Berkeley, that will equip you with the basics. 

International delegations are, of course, welcome to join! In particular, delegations from our neighbouring city Hong Kong can also find their way to our school by a simple bus or ferry ride to Macau. Please note that accommodation and meals are not provided.
