The Student International Conference Model United Nations
Welcome to SICMUN VII. SICMUN was founded by a group of passionate individuals who were enthusiastic about Model United Nations and wished to create their own conference. Before the creation of SICMUN, this group of individuals worked tirelessly to build their own debating skills, knowledge on Model United Nations in general, and even established two smaller, "learning conferences" for both middle and high school students. Through this active participation, they were able to help other individuals gain interest in Model United Nations, some of whom are currently a part of the SICMUN Secretariat. After gaining this experience, this group of founders wanted to apply their years of skills and knowledge to an international conference for delegates of all ages. These founders were able to start their own conference: SICMUN.
Our Mission
For a conference of its size in a Model UN world now increasingly dominated by for-profit companies and large, hierarchical organizations, SICMUN is unique in that all aspects of the conference – from the committee experience to the programming – are run by students for the benefit of their peers. We aspire to provide competitive simulations and enriching substance without losing sight of the educational and bridge-building value of Model UN as an activity.
