“Building Bridges: a World United in the Face of Global Challenges”
The Mediterranean Model United Nations (MEDMUN) is a student-run MUN conference that welcomes every year almost 500 highly motivated participants from distinguished high schools and universities worldwide. This annual event serves as a centre of intellectual discourse and cultural exchange, fostering an environment where young minds unite to address the pressing issues that our interconnected world faces.
The 12th edition of MEDMUN will take place between April 5th and April 7th in Sciences Po Paris' Mediterranean and Middle Eastern campus, in Menton. This setting offers stakeholders to confront themselves with the quality of the debates entertained in one of the world’s renowned “Grandes Écoles”, whilst enjoying the idyllic panoramas of the so-called “pearl of France”.
MEDMUN features 17 committees – both General Assembly and Crisis committees, held in 6 languages, French, English, Arabic, Italian, Spanish, and Turkish – and is centred on Mediterranean issues concerning Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa. This regional focus is reflected in our theme for the 12th edition:“Building Bridges: a World United in the Face of Global Challenges”.
This theme has a profound significance within the European, Mediterranean, Middle Eastern, and North African context. It underlines the geographical, cultural, political, and economic connections that bind these regions as well as celebrates the diversity these regions have to offer while promoting dialogue among nations and forging unity to collectively address global challenge like economic and political integration, conflict resolution, environmental sustainability and crisis response to humanitarian emergencies. MEDMUN’s theme expects its Delegates to apply advanced critical-thinking and creative problem-solving skills, besides cooperating closely and effectively in the search for open dialogue and collaborative solutions.
Simultaneously, MEDMUN provides a platform for participants to connect with distinguished guest speakers, who participate in both the General Ceremonies and committee sessions. These interactions with experts and thought leaders serve as a substance for meaningful dialogue and insights.
We extend a warm invitation to all stakeholders for MEDMUN 2024. This conference promises to be a memorable opportunity for students to expand their network, deepen their understanding of Mediterranean issues, and cultivate lasting friendships.
Join us in building bridges, forging connections, and uniting in the face of global challenges at MEDMUN 2024!
Please note: you must pay the conference fees only once you have been accepted in order to be assigned to a committee.
What are Crisis committees at MEDMUN?
The crisis committees at MEDMUN take you on a thrilling journey through fast-paced, real-time decision-making, where you become the key to shaping the future and solving important crises in the Mediterranean. However, our crisis committees take a twist on the typical General Assembly committee. Each committee combines two cabinets, each with their own chair, that work together, or against each other, to achieve their goals. During the committee, the backroom staff will present crisis scenarios that must be solved in addition to the original questions. Crisis presents delegates an opportunity to be creative and addressed fast moving problems in a regional context.
