About

Indonesia Model United Nations (Indonesia MUN) is the premier varsity level Model United Nations of Indonesia. Organized each year by Universitas Indonesia, IndonesiaMUN provides a platform for delegates to engage with international matters in a diplomatic matter. Indonesia MUN strives to expand network of its participants, as well as deepen their speaking, negotiating, and legal drafting skills in order to improve their community by learning beyond the boundaries of a classroom. Through its extensive events, Indonesia MUN hopes to heighten the spirit of Model United Nations and improve delegates as future leaders of the country. Above all, Indonesia MUN aims to implement values of diplomacy, human rights, and justice within each of its participants by means of a United Nations conference.

IndonesiaMUN 2020 upholds the theme of “Cultivating Responsibility to Achieve Sustainability”. The base of IndonesiaMUN 2020 is goal 12 of the Sustainable Development Goals Agenda 2030 which was approved by 193 UN Member States in September 2015 to become the reference of UN and UN Member States from 2016 to 2030. Goal 12 is dedicated to promote resources and energy efficiency, sustainable infrastructure and provide access to basic services, green and decent jobs and a better quality of life for all. This theme is chosen based on the current urgent phenomenon of excessive use of natural resources and irresponsible behavior on tackling the wastes. This problem is further exacerbated with the forecasted number of global populations of 9.6 billion by 2050, in which an equivalent of almost three planets could be required to provide the natural resources needed to sustain current lifestyles. The excessive production of pollution, the big demand for energy, and the need for food security further stresses the importance of the SDG 12 to be pursued and endorsed even further.

The tagline of this event is “Responsible Generation, Sustainable Environment”, which aims to highlight the need for a generation that is aware of responsible consumption and production for the future environment to be sustainable.
