About

The Conference will be organized by WFUNA in collaboration with the World Health Organization. The simulations of the World Health Assembly will be led by the WFUNA International Model UN (WIMUN).

The Global Model WHO will bring an accurate simulation of the World Health Assembly to high school and university students from all over the world that features the WIMUN approach, intensive training workshops and briefings on important agenda items by WHO staff.

The Global Model WHO is an entry point for young people worldwide into understanding the work of WHO and the importance of multilateralism in today’s globalized and interdependent world.

Youth from around the globe will gather online for a ten-day program that will include two back-to-back weekends of simulations focusing on a range of topics on the WHO agenda separated by 5 days of side events where delegates will have the opportunity to interact with WHO staff on a wide range of issues unlike anything you have seen at other Model UN conferences before! One of the benefits of offering this conference online is that we can leverage technology to allow you to interact with other delegates from around the world as well as real WHO experts and staff, no matter where you are in the world.

There will be a university track and high school track in two different time zones. The university track will have simulations that are designed for students who currently studying medicine, nursing or global health as well as simulation for studying other disciplines but have an interest in issues that the WHO is addressing.

By creating a fully student-led authentic Model WHO, students learn how decisions are made while highlighting key health issues currently being discussed in the World Health Assembly (WHA). Through their participation, students not only learn more about global issues, but also hone leadership and diplomatic skills and a range of personal skills, including but not limited to, negotiating, debating, public speaking, and conducting research on global issues on health that people face at global and national levels.

All topics discussed at the Global Model WHO are current items being considered by the WHO on its Agenda. Delegates participating in this conference will have access to multiple online trainings and resources to help them prepare for the conference.
