COMUN-Coornhert 2020

Dear sir, madam,

On behalf of the Secretariat and Executive Staff, you are cordially invited to participate in the fifth edition of our Coornhert Model United Nations hosted at the Coornhert Gymnasium in Gouda, The Netherlands on the 7th, 8th and 9th of February. COMUN 2020 will be the fifth anniversary of our conference. To celebrate this milestone, COMUN will be extended from one day to three days.COMUN will also take place at a new venue: the Coornhert Gymnasium Gouda.

COMUN is a Model UN conference organised by students attending the Coornhert Gymnasium in Gouda. This year’s Secretariat will once again consist of four enthusiastic students, with Sam Groennou Daan Zieren, Wessel den Ouden and Johan van den Berg. For the fifth time, we are organising a conference for students with an interest in debate and international politics. Our new conference structure means COMUN will have three days of constructive debate, focusing on finding new ideas and sustainable solutions for the most pressing current global affairs.We invite everyone to come to the largest, longest and best edition of our conference since its inception in 2016.

The committees that will be present at COMUN are a Security Council (with a two-person delegation per country), a Crisis Committee (with a two-person delegation per country), a Special Conference, an Economic and Social Council and the first three committees of the general assembly. These committees will be focusing on issues regarding this year’s conference theme: ‘The global shift of power'.
