About

Committees — Where Your Voice Shapes the World

At CIVICMUN 2025, every committee is designed to be more than just a debate room. It’s a sandbox of ideas, a training ground for changemakers, and a global stage for civic voices like yours. Whether you’re a first-timer or an aspiring world leader, these committees will push you to think bigger, collaborate smarter, and turn resolutions into real-world impact.

From rebuilding economies with ECOSOC, defending free speech in UNHRC, to championing grassroots health movements with WHO Special Session — this is where your journey as a citizen diplomat begins.

1. Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC)

Topic: Civic Power in Economic Recovery: No One Left Behind

  • Difficulty: Beginner
  • Size: 106 Spots

ECOSOC is where you’ll realize that economic recovery isn’t just about numbers and policies — it’s about people. This committee will dive into how communities, especially the underrepresented ones, can take part in rebuilding post-pandemic economies. You’ll craft solutions that connect governments, businesses, and grassroots citizens to ensure economic recovery is fair, inclusive, and people-centered.

2. United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC)

Topic: Freedom of Speech in a Digital Battlefield

  • Difficulty: Beginner
  • Size: 53 Spots

UNHRC will challenge you to defend civic freedoms in an era where likes, tweets, and posts can shake regimes. From online censorship to digital privacy threats, delegates will tackle how human rights can survive in the wild, chaotic world of the internet. Get ready to debate where the line is between security and freedom — and who gets to draw it.

3. World Health Organization (WHO) — Special Session

Topic: Health for All: Community First, Policy Later

  • Difficulty: Beginner
  • Size: 195 Spots

The WHO Special Session isn’t your typical high-level health talk. It’s about putting people at the heart of public health solutions. From urban slums to remote villages, how can communities lead their own health initiatives? You’ll brainstorm strategies to close the urban-rural healthcare gap, making sure no one is left behind when it comes to health access and equity.
