About

The BaLMUN conference is a three-day simulation of the work of the United Nations and includes the following: Social, Cultural and Humanitarian Committee, Environment Commission, Development Committee, Security Council, Economical and Financial Committee, Disarmament Committee. Through the participation in the BaLMUN conference high school students, aged 14 to 19, will try to become more informed and effective citizens of the world community.

The aim of the conference is to seek solutions to the various problems of the world through discussion, negotiation and debate. At BaLMUN, students play the roles of diplomats and learn to negotiate and debate in the formal way of the UN. According to the rules, every delegation represents one member-state of the UN but not their own one. Before the conference participants should research and prepare draft resolutions on the issues of the agenda (from the view of the country they represent). The official language of BaLMUN is English.

BaLMUN offers the Model United Nations conference, located in the beautiful city of Banja Luka. The city of Banja Luka is the second largest city in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the administrative capital and largest city of the Republic of Srpska entity, located in the north-western part of the country. The city lies on the Vrbas river and is well known in the countries of the Former Yugoslavia for being full of tree-lined avenues, boulevards, gardens and parks. We would like to emphasize that beside the official activities participants will have ample opportunity to get familiar with the culture of the host country.
