Foreign Policy

Belarus' foreign policy is almost entirely subordinated to Russia, though Lukashenko has historically tried to maintain some maneuverability between Moscow and the West. The 2020 crisis and Ukraine war eliminated any remaining balance -- Belarus is now effectively a Russian satellite state diplomatically and militarily.

Belarus remains a member of the CIS, CSTO, and the Union State with Russia, and maintains some engagement with China and Global South countries.

MUN Delegate Guide

As Belarus, align closely with Russia on virtually all issues. Frame Western sanctions as illegal unilateral coercive measures and emphasize sovereignty and non-interference. Build coalitions with other sanctioned states.

Avoid isolation by engaging with the Global South, China, and states sympathetic to anti-Western narratives. Deflect human rights criticism by pointing to Western double standards. Your UN founding member status gives you historical standing despite current isolation.
