Foreign Policy

Greece's foreign policy is shaped by its rivalry with Turkey (Cyprus division, Aegean disputes, EEZ claims), its role as a NATO member, and Eastern Mediterranean energy politics. It has deepened defense ties with France, Israel, Egypt, and the UAE as part of an evolving Eastern Mediterranean alignment.

Greece has resolved its naming dispute with North Macedonia (Prespa Agreement, 2018) and maintains a strong diaspora network, particularly in the United States, Australia, and Canada.

MUN Delegate Guide

As Greece, invoke your democratic heritage and founding role in the UN. Position yourself as a bridge between Europe and the Eastern Mediterranean.

On Cyprus and Turkey issues, coordinate with Cyprus and build support from EU allies. Use your maritime expertise in law of the sea discussions. Push for equitable migration burden-sharing within the EU. Leverage your cultural diplomacy -- the return of the Parthenon Marbles from the British Museum is a sovereignty issue you can raise.
