First Impression Strategy

The first 30 minutes of committee set the tone for the entire conference — how to use them.

Research on group dynamics shows that initial impressions form within the first few minutes and are remarkably sticky. In MUN, this means the first session — especially your opening speech and first unmoderated caucus — disproportionately shapes how other delegates and the chair perceive you for the rest of the conference.

This isn't about being flashy. It's about signaling competence and approachability simultaneously. Delegates who seem knowledgeable but collaborative attract allies. Delegates who seem aggressive or disengaged push people away.
