# Methodology

Two different things ship under the Model Diplomat name. Published pages have a named person accountable for them. A live search answer is a retrieval draft. This page says which is which.

## Published pages

Articles, country explainers, and conference pages that make substantive claims are held to the [editorial policy](https://modeldiplomat.com/editorial-policy). Atlas, the research agent, gathers material and writes a first draft from primary sources. A named human editor decides what we stand behind. Where a page is assembled by filling a template from a structured source, that page says so.

Every substantive claim on those pages is tied to a source you can open: a UN document, a treaty, a foreign-ministry statement, an official statistic, or a named analysis. If a claim cannot be sourced, it does not run. Corrections are recorded on the [corrections](https://modeldiplomat.com/corrections) page.

## Live search answers

A search answer is not line-edited by a named person before you see it. The engine retrieves documents from its index and drafts from those documents. A citation is a pointer to something in that index, not a guarantee that the sentence used it fairly. Open the source before you quote it.

Dates on sources matter. For a sanction, a vote, or a war, treat the answer as only as fresh as the document it cites. Discover and stories are time-sensitive in the same way.

## What this page does not explain

The 100,000 user figure on the marketing pages is a company statistic. We do not publish how that count is taken, and this page is not a methodology for it.

Founding year, leadership, location, and company identity are on [About](https://modeldiplomat.com/about) and [Press & facts](https://modeldiplomat.com/press). We do not publish employee headcount, funding, a school rate card, or a FERPA packet on this page. Student data, including accounts under 13, is in the [privacy policy](https://modeldiplomat.com/privacy).
