Visual PR and Photo Opportunities

How to create and manage visual moments that shape media coverage and public perception.

Images Drive Coverage

Television news needs pictures. Newspapers need photographs. Social media feeds are built around visuals. If you do not provide compelling images, either the media will create their own — which you cannot control — or they will not cover your story at all. Visual PR is the discipline of designing moments that produce the images you want in the coverage.

The power of a single image to shape a narrative is extraordinary. The photograph of the Tiananmen Square protester standing before a line of tanks in 1989 defined the world's perception of the Chinese democracy movement. The image of world leaders linking arms at the Paris Unity March in 2015 became the defining visual of global solidarity after the Charlie Hebdo attacks. These images were not accidental — they were produced by the convergence of deliberate staging and journalistic skill.
