Recovering from Setbacks

When your resolution fails, your bloc fractures, or you bomb a speech — how to recover and still perform.

Every experienced MUN delegate has stories of conferences that went wrong. Your working paper collapsed. Your allies defected. You froze during a speech. Your resolution lost the vote.

What separates strong delegates from the rest isn't avoiding setbacks — it's how they recover. And here's the key insight: chairs evaluate recovery as highly as they evaluate success. A delegate who loses gracefully and pivots strategically impresses chairs more than one who only succeeds because they were never challenged.
