Portfolio Powers in Depth
Deep dive into how different character types use their unique powers — military, economic, diplomatic, and intelligence portfolios.
The Four Major Portfolio Types
While every crisis committee is unique, most characters fall into one of four portfolio categories:
Military: Generals, admirals, defense ministers. You control armed forces and can deploy, maneuver, and engage. Your power is blunt but effective — and other delegates need you for any military action.
Economic: Finance ministers, treasury secretaries, central bankers, CEOs. You control money, trade, and sanctions. Economic power is often underestimated but can be decisive — cutting off an opponent's funding cripples their military.
Diplomatic: Foreign ministers, ambassadors, heads of state. You negotiate treaties, form alliances, and represent your faction externally. Diplomatic power multiplies other powers through coalition-building.
Intelligence: Spy chiefs, intelligence directors, advisors. You gather information, run covert operations, and know things others don't. Intelligence power is subtle but can change the entire committee dynamic with a well-timed revelation.
