Persuasion Practice

Craft a persuasive argument using multiple techniques — get AI feedback.

This lesson is about application. You've learned the principles — now it's time to use them together.

Effective persuasion rarely relies on a single technique. The best persuaders layer multiple approaches:

  • Open with a story to create emotional engagement (narrative transportation)
  • Establish credibility with evidence and authority
  • Frame the choice to highlight what's at stake (loss aversion)
  • Use social proof to show momentum
  • Anticipate objections to demonstrate thoroughness
  • Close with a clear ask that leverages commitment

The Persuasion Audit

Before you deliver any persuasive argument, run this checklist:

  • Who is my audience and what do they care about?
  • What is their current position and why do they hold it?
  • What emotional state will make them most receptive?
  • Which Cialdini principles can I ethically apply?
  • What are their likely objections and how will I address them?
  • What specific action do I want them to take?
  • Does my approach pass the transparency, reversibility, and autonomy tests?
