Understanding Crisis Powers

What your character can and cannot do — understanding portfolio powers, scope, and the boundaries of crisis action.

What Are Crisis Powers?

In crisis committee, every delegate plays a specific character with defined resources and authority. Your 'crisis powers' are the actions you can realistically take given your character's position. A military general can deploy troops; a finance minister can redirect budgets; a CEO can fire executives or acquire companies.

The key principle is plausibility. The backroom evaluates every crisis note you send and determines whether your requested action is something your character could actually do. If you're the Secretary of State, you can negotiate a treaty — but you can't order a military strike. That's the Secretary of Defense's power. Understanding this boundary is essential to effective crisis play.
