TL;DR

- A thesis statement is the single declarative sentence that states an answer's central argument and signals the line of reasoning the response will defend.
- Where in an answer should the thesis statement appear?
- How does the thesis differ from the topic or the question?
- How must a thesis respond to directive verbs like 'critically examine' or 'to what extent'?
- Why do strong candidates still lose marks despite good facts?
