Slovenia was the first former Yugoslav republic to join both the EU and NATO (2004) and the eurozone (2007), establishing itself as the region's integration success story. It has one of the highest living standards in Central Europe and consistently ranks well on environmental and quality-of-life indices.

Slovenia recognized the State of Palestine in 2024, joining a growing number of European states. It served on the UN Security Council in 1998-1999 during the Kosovo crisis, giving it firsthand experience with Balkans conflict dynamics.

MUN Delegate Guide

As Slovenia, present yourself as the model post-Yugoslav EU/NATO success. Advocate for Western Balkans enlargement based on your own experience. Lead on environmental sustainability -- Ljubljana was European Green Capital 2016.

Coordinate with EU and NATO allies. Bridge Central Europe and the Western Balkans. Push for multilateral solutions and progressive human rights positions. Your small size and integration experience make you a credible, non-threatening voice on reform.

Foreign Policy

Slovenia's foreign policy emphasizes multilateralism, Western Balkans enlargement, and environmental sustainability. It champions the EU integration prospects of its former Yugoslav neighbors and has advocated for a rules-based international order. Slovenia has also taken progressive positions on human rights and international humanitarian law.
