SylvanMU
**SylvanMU** is a mixed-level Model United Nations conference held in Doha, Qatar, from July 10–12, 2026. Participants represent UN member states in assigned committees, drafting and debating resolutions on global issues while developing diplomatic negotiation, public speaking, and policy research skills.
Why it matters
A virtual conference with roughly 250 delegates can offer a meaningful MUN experience while remaining accessible to participants joining from different locations. For students across experience levels, a mixed-eligibility setting can create opportunities to learn from others and practice adapting to varied styles of debate.
Because SylvanMU is held online, delegates can focus on core skills like research, speechwriting, negotiation, and digital collaboration. It can be a useful setting for building confidence in formal debate without the travel demands of an in-person event.
How to prepare
Since committee topics are not listed, prepare by strengthening the fundamentals that apply across most Model UN settings. Review how to write opening speeches, build clear policy positions, respond to points raised by other delegates, and collaborate on draft resolutions. It is also smart to practice concise speaking for an online format, where clarity and structure matter even more.
Before the conference, make sure your technology setup is reliable and that you are comfortable with virtual conferencing etiquette. If your committee assignment is released later, focus your research on the country or role you receive, including major policy priorities, likely allies, and key areas of disagreement.
